Ara Güler Museum
Galatasaray, İstanbul, Turkey
2016
A museum that was to include Ara Güler's works and a digital Ara Güler Archive was planned by repurposing the artist's studio. The facade of the museum was designed to visually embrace the Galatasaray Square and exist in dialogue with the street and welcome everyone in the city. The facade was therefore planned, not only as a structure where the outside could be seen from the interior. Scenarios in which onlookers from the exterior peered inside were also considered. The facade was made to function dynamically with its visitors, exhibited objects, and all other structures within the building.
